Robert Mamani uses an image to explain its mission: the person can be like a flute. It does not create the air that passes through it, but it needs to be present, tuned and willing for the sound to reach others.
Living as a service
Robert defines himself as a spiritual person and understands his work as service. That word does not mean for him to place himself above others. It means being available with what you know how to do: music, presence, stories, meditation and listening.
When he plays or accompanies a practice, he tries to give himself completely. At that moment try to put aside the desire to demonstrate and focus on what the situation needs. Sometimes it will be a melody; other times, a quiet conversation.
The metaphor of the instrument
“I am an instrument. Like a flute that is blown on: the instrument sings and makes people dance.
The phrase contains a paradox. In order to “stop being the center”, the musician must prepare a lot. A careless flute does not respond; an unpracticed performer cannot sustain the music. Surrender does not eliminate personal responsibility: it makes it more demanding.
Robert feels that what he offers does not end with his individual will. He names it as a superior force, God, energy or cosmos. It does not require that all people use the same word. The important thing, from their perspective, is to recognize a relationship with something greater than one's own ego.
Each person has a mission
Robert believes that no one comes into the world without a chance to contribute. The mission does not have to be grandiose or public. It can consist of teaching, caring, creating, accompanying or learning something that will later be useful to others.
His own mission has become visible through music. The accumulated experiences - childhood in Peru, groups, trips, difficulties and encounters in Russia - allow him to recognize situations that another person may not yet be able to name. Sharing an experience does not mean imposing a response; It means offering another perspective.
Listen without invading
There are people who come up to Robert and start telling their story. He clarifies that he does not seek to enter other people's lives. The conversation appears because someone feels confident and needs to voice a weight, a pain, or a worry.
In those moments, listening may be more important than advising. The person speaking regains space to hear themselves. Robert does not present this listening as psychotherapy or treatment. When a problem requires medical or psychological attention, it is appropriate to go to qualified professionals.
Many ways to understand the spiritual
Robert recognizes that there are very different teachers and practices: some work with plants, others with energy, words, silence or music. His path relies mainly on sound and listening. It is the terrain he knows from experience.
You also know that spiritual words can have different meanings. A person talks about God; another, of consciousness, nature or cosmos. Robert prefers to find the point of contact rather than discuss the name.
Music as a means, not an end
A melody can awaken senses that routine keeps asleep. The sound does not provide a written answer, but it modifies the state from which we ask the question. That is why music appears in their concerts, classes and meditation meetings with different functions.
In a class, it helps to discover a capacity that was saved. At a concert, he brings together strangers. In a listening practice, create an interval of stillness. The same instrument changes its function depending on the intention and the context.
Learn to be able to give
Robert repeats that he likes to listen because that's how he learns. The more you learn, the more you can offer. This idea avoids presenting the teacher as someone finished. Those who teach also need to receive, correct themselves and remain attentive.
Being an instrument, then, is not disappearing. It is being present without appropriating everything that happens; Practice responding honestly and knowing how to withdraw when the moment is over. The music remains in the air for a few more seconds, and then continues inside whoever heard it.
